From the raw Material to Slugs

Raw Material Selection

The choice of the right raw material is one of the keys to a high quality finished product. Our customers can count on our high standard of quality, therefore we use only LME registered "good western" aluminum for our production.

Aluminum Melting

The solid aluminum is transformed into molten aluminum in high capacity gas fired melting furnaces.

Casting: Rotary System

The molten aluminum goes through an extensive cleaning and filtering process prior to being cast. The molten aluminum is then fed into a continuously rotating casting wheel with revolving steel band cover. A variety of band widths are used in this process.

Casting: Hazelett System

The molten aluminum goes through an extensive cleaning and filtering process prior to being cast. The molten aluminum is then fed into a twin belt continuous mold providing a very high quality strip. A variety of aluminum alloys are possible with this system.

Hot and Cold Rolling

The cast aluminum strip is rolled to the desired finished gauge using a combination of high precision hot and cold rolling mills.

Annealing

Once punched, the slugs must go through an annealing process. High efficiency gas fired ovens are used for this process.

Punching

High-speed presses varying from 80 to 800 tons are used to punch the slugs from the finished aluminum strip. This slug production process generates slugs of a very high dimensional accuracy.

Surface Treatment/Packaging

The slug surface must be roughened up to meet the customer process requirements. This is done with a tumbling or shot blasting operation. Afterward the slugs are packaged using a fully or partially automated process.

Palletizing

Palletizing for storage and distribution uses some of the most modern equipment.
