The developments in the area of vehicle safety moves more and more also in the direction of passive safety, i.e. initiating actions already prior to an eventual impact. In these cases, sensors or cameras are used for the necessary distance measurement or object identification. Impact extrusion allows to produce membranes of minimum thickness and close tolerance, as for example required for ultrasonic detectors. Aluminium shields off electromagnetic interferences and possesses good heat conductivity.

Not only passenger safety but also the protection of pedestrians is now more and more moving into the public focus. To ensure this, rebound systems are required in the bumpers and the bonnet. Also for these applications, impact extrusions are an obvious choice due to the possible close tolerance production of complex geometries and the superb material characteristics.
